Alexandre Leroux

“Working at the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC), Alexandre Leroux is an engineer specialized in geospatial technologies and holds a M.Sc. in hyperspectral remote sensing. He joined the Environmental Emergency Response Section of the Canadian Meteorological Centre (CMC) in 2004 after a few years in the private sector. At the CMC, Alexandre initially contributed to projects focusing on global surface databases and urban geospatial data. With his colleagues, Alexandre initiated the MSC GeoMet project, serving MSC data through web services to the public since 2009. Alexandre joined MSC’s Data Management Section in Spring 2012 and in Fall 2013 came back to CMC to act as the Open Data Access National Coordinator for the Data, Performance and Standards section. Now a member of the Geospatial and Open Data Systems (GODS) unit, Alexandre contributes to the coordination, development and operation of the MSC GeoMet Platform as well as MSC data management efforts. The mission critical MSC GeoMet platform serves over 10 million requests daily for weather, water and climate datasets.”
